Show reviews: 2019 Bass Masters & Monaghan

We recently kicked off our 2019 show season with a presence at two fishing shows in Central PA. The first took place in mid-January at the inaugural Capital City Bass Masters Show at the Newberrytown Peddler’s Market. This two-day event was very impressive for a first-time show, bringing in hundreds of customers. While the Saturday crowd was very strong, the Sunday crowd was dampened in large part due to overnight snow and lingering snow showers. The show was well organized and the venue was fantastic, offering some of the finest deli sandwiches and bakery goods you will see at fishing shows. We got Northkill products in the hands of many happy customers and we even left with a very unique item – a snapping turtle lamp made by taxidermist Jay Cape from Capes Taxidermy. My kids (and my wife) didn’t appreciate the lamp as much I thought they would, but it hangs proudly in my shop.

Our second show of the season was the Monaghan Fishing Show , now in its 25th year. For many, this is the granddaddy of all the small fishing shows in Central PA featuring 100+ vendor tables selling everything from hand-painted lures to kayaks to some of the finest handmade wooden landing nets available. There’s even a little indoor trout pond where kids can have some fun. I heard shrieks and laughter from the pond all weekend and it was a wonderful sound.

My good friend, mentor and Northkill Platinum Pro Staff Member Angus Macaulay joined me on Saturday and represented his company Fishtek, selling rubber Hawg Shad lures that he had on display in a small aquarium with a drop shot rig.

Several Northkill landing nets found new homes and we started preliminary talks with a couple central Pennsylvania fly shops to get our nets into new stores.

It was a thrill for us to see customers react to our products and walk away happy. Those customers, like all of our future customers, can rest easy knowing that Northkill Tackle stands behind our products and we will deliver the same level of customer service 5 years from now that we provided during the initial sale.
